Canning City Brass Band is seeking applications for the position of Musical Director.
Our friendly, National B Grade Champion Band is looking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and committed Musical Director to develop and advance the band to achieve the highest possible results.
The successful candidate will have high standards, previous experience within a brass band setting, and be able to work with the wide range of abilities and ages of players we have within the band. Duties include:
- Select the musical programme with consultation from the players and Committee of Management
- Interpret the selected music programme, conduct the band and direct the music during rehearsals, training sessions and performances.
- Schedule and control rehearsals, training sessions, engagements and performances.
- Decide a playing member’s position and music part
- Recommend to the Committee of Management the purchase of any music
- Attend Committee of Management meetings as necessary
- Prepare a report to the Committee of Management each month relating to the Musical Director’s duties
- Recommend candidate(s) for the position of Assistant Musical Director to the Committee of Management, and give due opportunity to the appointee to share in the duties of the Musical Director.
CCBB offer a modest remuneration package, in keeping with the community group nature of the band.
Further details will be discussed with candidates at the next stage.
