Perth Summer Junior Orchestra Camp Auditions

For primary and yr 7 students

 

The Perth Summer Junior Orchestra Camp auditions are coming up.

The orchestra camp an orchestra day workshop in january 2015.

Lots of fun and a great opportunity for everyone to get back into it before first lessons.

 

We’ve decided to open the opportunities at PSOC  junior to winds , brass and percussion.

We can also help everyones 4th term crazy/business by getting auditions done early.

Our Conductor is the Very experienced Daemon Clark who has a particular gift for working with musicians in their early development.

The Day Camp for winds is wednesday  Jan 21 and thursday 22nd 2015 .

 

The strings have 1 day first by themselves to get settled and sorted then we welcome other sections for orchestra work, tutes , workshops and a concert.

Joshua Webster will be tutoring and running a dynamic ensemble workshop for the whole orchestra as he does every year.

The auditions will be as friendly and inclusive as we can make them.

Trumpet Players and a Percussionist Wanted

Combined Districts Concert Band is seeking trumpet players and one percussionist who would like to join our vibrant team.  Combined Districts is a well established concert band with many performances coming up throughout the year, including the Wembley Downs District Fair, Bassendean Carols by Candlelight and the Channel 7 Christmas Pageant.  Rehearsals are weekly on Monday evenings in West Leederville.  Please contact the secretary on secretary@cdconcertband.org for more information.  Website: www.cdconcertband.org

Brass Players Required for A Grade Brass Band

The Royal Agricultural Society of WA Brass is Western Australia’s most successful community band. With a history dating back 55 years, the band has been ‘A’ Grade Champions in Western Australia since 1979. The band was placed 2nd in the A Grade Brass at the Australian National Band Championships in 2013, taking out first place in the own choice test piece. This is the highest result at a Nationals event by any WA band in the history of WA banding.
Over the years, the band has performed under the names such as City of Stirling Brass Band, 6KY Brass, Channel 9 Brass and more recently Midland Brick Brass. In 2009 the Royal Agricultural Society of WA took over sponsorship of the band.

The band performs under the direction of Dr Alan Lourens, (Head of Music, UWA.)
Minimum standard requirement is AMEB grade 6 or equivalent. As well as supporting and performing at local events, the band regularly attends National events and embarks on tours both within WA & internationally.

Rehearsals take place on a Thursday evening from 7.30 – 9.30 pm at the Ellie Eaton Theatre, Claremont Showgrounds.

Canning City Brass Band is seeking percussionists.

Our friendly, National B Grade Champion Band is looking for experienced percussionists to join our developing and advancing band in achieving the highest possible results.

Canning City Brass Band is a community band that meets once a week to play a range of music for a range of engagements. Canning City Brass Band does a number of regular community concerts as well as competes at the State and National level.

Canning City Brass Band also prides themselves on their marching ability, and therefore take part in a number of marches throughout the year. Marching is an essential part of being involved at Canning City Brass Band and all members must participate. Previous marching skills and experience is desired, however not necessary.

We rehearse Thursday evenings from 7.30pm to 10pm at the Cannington Town Hall.

Royal Agricultural Society of WA Brass

The Royal Agricultural Society of WA Brass will be holding their first concert of the year on April 5th at the Callaway Auditorium at UWA.

Featuring music from Star Wars and the Planets – Mars, as well as many other selections from anything else to do with looking upwards.

Concert commences at 6.30 pm. There will be no interval so it won’t be a late one. Time to go out and grab a bite to eat afterwards!

Position Available: Musical Director

Canning City Brass Band is seeking applications for the position of Musical Director.

Our friendly, National B Grade Champion Band is looking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and committed Musical Director to develop and advance the band to achieve the highest possible results.

The successful candidate will have high standards, previous experience within a brass band setting, and be able to work with the wide range of abilities and ages of players we have within the band. It is desirable that the candidates will have and understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of a community ensemble and therefore a respect for the community focus of the band.

We rehearse Thursday evenings from 7.30pm to 10pm at the Canning Town Hall.

Duties include:

  • Select the musical programme with consultation from the players and Committee of Management
  • Interpret the selected music programme, conduct the band and direct the music during rehearsals, training sessions and performances.
  • Schedule and control rehearsals, training sessions, engagements and performances.
  • Decide a playing member’s position and music part
  • Recommend to the Committee of Management the purchase of any music
  • Attend Committee of Management meetings as necessary
  • Prepare a report to the Committee of Management each month relating to the Musical Director’s duties
  • Recommend candidate(s) for the position of Assistant Musical Director to the Committee of Management, and give due opportunity to the appointee to share in the duties of the Musical Director.

CCBB offer a modest remuneration package, in keeping with the community group nature of the band.
